150th Jubilee of the Congregation

We are happy to announce that the Sisters of the Nazareth have begun the Jubilee Year, celebrating the congregation’s 150th anniversary. The opening ceremony of the Jubilee was held on the first Sunday of Advent, December 1, 2024, at the General House in Rome. Representatives from all over the world took part in the celebration. The Mass was presided over by Cardinal Gregory Rys. All Jubilee events are being streamed online.

The sisters participating in the celebrations in Rome also had the unique opportunity to participate in a private audience with the Holy Father Francis and in the solemn introduction of the relics of the Blessed Sisters – Martyrs of Novogrodek – to the Mausoleum of the New Martyrs in the Basilica of Saint Bartholomew in Rome.

The jubilee celebrations will continue throughout 2025 in all countries where the sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth serve. A number of events have been planned, including conferences, retreats, pilgrimages and concerts, abounding in reflection and thanksgiving for all the graces and goodness and the ministry of sisters. Short video series have also been prepared for the celebrations, which were developed with or for the sisters. These will include jubilee wishes, interviews and historical footage. All of this content will be published on the congregation’s social media, enabling wide participation in the jubilee joy.
The official date of the founding of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, founded by Blessed Francesca Siedliska, is the First Sunday of Advent 1875. The mission of the Foundress, Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and her Congregation, focused on helping the family. From the beginning, sisters have been dedicated to serving families, running schools, kindergartens, hospitals and orphanages. Today, they operate on five continents, in 14 countries, continuing their mission to support families in their various needs.

We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating the anniversary and to pray for the intentions of the congregation, which for 150 years has been ministering in the spirit of love and helping families around the world.
