In the heart of Kazakhstan, between the steppe and the rolling hills of Borovoye, an extraordinary project has been flourishing for two years – “The Samaritan Woman – a retreat on female dignity” is a space for meeting, mutual strengthening and discovering inner strength in the light of God’s love, His word and grace.
They come from both cities and smaller towns, belong to different faiths and are at different stages of their lives. So far, nearly 200 women have participated in the project. They have one thing in common – the desire to discover their self-worth and the beauty they carry within themselves. We, three religious sisters from different congregations and a priest of Ignatian spirituality, accompany them on this journey, creating a space full of warmth, mutual respect and understanding. Although we come from different religious traditions, we are united by a common mission – caring for women’s dignity and accompanying them in their spiritual and emotional transformation.
The retreats usually take place in Szczucinsk but also in parishes in the dioceses of Astana and Almaty. Each meeting is unique because each woman brings her own story, joys and difficulties. During these meetings, there is time for prayer, the celebration of the Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the sacrament of confession. Although the women participating in the retreat come from different denominations, most of them are Christians for whom this form of prayer is extremely important. For the others, it is a subtle attempt to accompany and discover God in this way – in prayer, in the silence of the chapel.
In addition to spiritual experiences, we also conduct art therapy workshops, working on emotions. These methods help participants open up and better understand themselves and their experiences. They can also benefit from prepared conferences that touch on important aspects of their lives, deepening their faith and discovering God the Creator.
It is enough to be willing to stop and give yourself time… To meet with yourself and desire to live your vocation and beauty to the full.
Pray for the work of the “Samaritan Woman” – for the feminine heart to find God’s radiance.
