Nazareth Mission in Ghana

Our Mission in Ghana has been operating since 2012. There are currently eleven Polish, one Filipina and seven Ghanaian Sisters (four temporarily professed, one novice and two postulants) ministering in Africa.

We serve in three villages: Sunyani where there is a formation house, as well as in Yamfo and Chiraa, where, thanks to the dedicated work of the Sisters and the support of people of good will, school building complexes have been built for three educational levels: preschool, elementary and middle school.

At present, about 900 children are already studying in our schools, from two-year-olds to the sixth grade of elementary school in Yamfo, while in Chiraa from two-year-olds to the first grade of middle school.

In Chiraa, we completed the construction of a middle school building for the third and final educational level in 2023. The school is being systematically equipped and adapted for use by students. We are also looking forward to a new bus that will help provide safe and reliable transportation for students who live a long distance from the school.

In Yamfo, in the current 2024 calendar year, construction of a building for a middle school, where our students will continue their education starting in September, has begun.

The middle school in Yamfo will be made up of three separate buildings. We are currently in the process of constructing the first, a four-classroom facility. The construction of two more (administrative facilities and a library, computer lab and auditorium) is still ahead of us.

The next challenge will be to equip the new facilities.

There are many more projects in the future plans that we would like to implement and the priority after the completion of the Yamfo middle school will be the construction of sports fields at both facilities.

It is thanks to your kindness that we can continue our mission and provide assistance to those who need it most, as well as carry out the Nazareth charism of spreading the Kingdom of God’s love by imitating the life of the Holy Family, serving the Church and families in Ghana.
